I was wondering if anyone has used any of the Lehighs 40 Cal. 200 grain DOA muzzleloader bullets? If so how are they?

They are very accurate in the Savage ML with BH209. They are useless with smokeless powder in the Savage . They also work very well in the 45CAL knight Elites when using 130grns by volume of 777 or Bh209. This bullet is a little long for a 1/28 twist barrel.

I might give the 185gr DOAs a try this weekend for fun but i will be using BH209 with them too.
Most smokeless data for 50x40 only beats heavy BH209 loads by a little before you start blowing sabots....according to everything ive read anyway.
A semi light Lehigh 458 might be interesting in a Savage.

They are useless with smokeless powder in the Savage . I've seen that reported a lot, and have always wondered why when the solid copper barnes shoot so well in SMLs. If it's soley due to the radiused base, I wonder why they don't make it flat like the XTP? They seem to be a very responsive company, and it would seem to be an easy fix since their bullets are all machined, right? Or do you think it's another reason?

The semi boat tail is blowing right out of the back of the sabot. A new 45 sabot is in the works to correct this i hope. If not, the goal would be to loose the boattail for smokeless. That boattail is no problem at all with subs.
