Are the JADA bullets still in business? A quick google turned up nothing... Rb, how was their terminal performance? Did the expand or just apple corer on through? Your comments on 200 grain in 50 have my interest piqued. I have a .730 full bore 12g brass slug sitting on my desk that Al sent me. I believe he said they shot well for him. It weighs between 4-445 grains, can't remember exactly... Full bore it wouldn't need to expand and I think it could be pushed to 1700 with safe shotgun pressures

The problem with a hollow lead bullet is there is no strength to it, it is like shooting just the jacket! A long time ago I was making some hollow bullets, first from copper, and then from brass. They were very accurate, but when they hit the backstop berm at the range a lot of them shredded so I decided that I would not test them on game. A normal bullet with a round hole through the center has the BC of an XTP although you can shoot them very fast. I did shoot a golf ball and it cut a perfectly circular hole straight through it, and I am sure that a wound like that would bleed like crazy on game! edge.

Interesting... as for asking about expansion, I was assuming they were all copper, and wondered if they'd expand like the barnes, etc. Your pics are worth 1000 words

Doug, that only works for people who are willing to listen. Harley I noticed that the age survey revealed that many of our members are at least my age (54) or older. It is eye opening for me to become aware of how many times I have changed opinions on some of the most crucial issues in the course of life. It is hard for me to convince myself that I am so right on any particular subject when I can't even agree with myself.

rangeball, the bullets in the picture are some that I made. I believe that the JADA bullets were copper jacketed lead. I never shot the JADA bullets. I just want to make it clear edge.

Is the benefit of shooting a hollow center bullet that it has greater bearing surface area compared to it's weight?

Edge, did not know that, I had thought they were solid copper.
I remember looking at their website way back when, but it seems moot now, apparently their no longer around.

I remembered that someone had done some testing of the Permagel material and shot the JADA Enterprises "the Bullet" into it. Here are some pictures to the article and a link to the full article: www.theoutdoorquest.com/perma-gel_ballistic_gelatin.htmThe second from the left in both pictures is The Bullet. edge.

I just examined a JADA(The Bullet) bullet . The front 2/5 is strictly copper while the back half is thick copper jacket with a lead core. Therefore it is a jacketed bullet but the jacket is very thick, comparatively speaking.

I wonder what an all copper version of the jada would do. Using a calculator, a solid copper .458 x 1.25" long with a 5/16" hole through it and the front tapered should weigh right at 200 grains. Assuming it could be shot in the longer sabots for heavier bullets and hit 2800 fps, wonder how it would perform on game? Perhaps scribe the nose to encourage expansion like barnes?

8-)I tried to find the picture of "the bullet" I used to take a deer with some years back but didn't.
The reason I think the Jada bullet was accurate was it had a long bearing surface for a 200 grain bullet, in fact if I remember it was longer than a 250 grain bullet.
