I use a range rod by Knight or T/C. They are tough, easy on the hands, but it is an extra item to carry in the field for hunting. Couldn't find a ramrod that I liked that fits under the barrel.

I also liked the idea of a solid aluminum ram rod, but I went the the hardware store and bought a 3/8 inch piece of rod stock cut it to size and drilled and tapped it with a centering rig. Low and behold I have a great ram rod that matches my stainless barrel for $5.00, and very little work since aluminum is easy to work with.

I got a Spin Jag loader, and then ordered a custom sized aluminum ramrod from RMC/Rydon. Together they're the same length as the stock ramrod, which looks good and provides allows me to load any bullet properly.

I wasn't really looking but ended up getting one of their cleaning kits and a couple of their muzzle protectors. I like the cleaning kits because they contain a "takedown" rod.

I ordered a spin jag loader and Jim at spin jag said he is in the process of developing a ram rod of his own. He told me to get back with him in 2 weeks. Judging on the quality of the spin jag I am going to wait until I see what he comes up with before I buy an aftermarket rod. I intend on drilling and tapping the the pac nor and Installing the new ram rod ith the spin jag onto the barrel using the original attachment from the savage barrel.

RMC sells a solid aluminum rod at 48" for the same price as a standard cut to length rod. If you buy one of these you get two for the price of one. Cut one end to your desired length and use the other for a range rod. Zen

rrbou I am also Interested in what the other forum members would have to say about this Idea. I am not a gunsmith but do have a very talented friend who is one. the Idea of drilling into the pac nor is not something I want to do but I have a habit of losing things and would prefer to have the ram rod attached to the gun.

Bad Bull doesn't believe in putting a ram-rod beneath their barrel believing it's a detriment to accuracy. I have to agree with them after seeing the groups they shoot. I will not be using a ram-rod attached to my Pac-Nor. My 3 piece brass ram-rod from Midway arrived today and seems really well made. I will just put it into a pouch along with my bullet starter and other accessories and sling it over my shoulder when I go to my tree stand.

I just bought a T/C Rugged Rod universal and cut it to 22inches including the spin jag. It fits identical to the original. Rocky

I had planned to order a spin-jag anyway, and am not sure what the quality of the take down ramrod SMI includes will be, so have been looking at options.

sagittarius What Ram rod did you buy. I got a 31" brass range rod with rotating aluminum handle by Traditions for my 30" barrel but they make shorter rods too. It's heavy but solid and very strong. Midway has a bunch of different ones listed. Actually, you have me interested in the Spin-jag rod as I have their bullet starter and loader and they're high quality. When it becomes available, I might order it instead if it can be built in the length I want.

when I ordered the spin jag loader I was I was telling Phill at Gunn Innovations That I am having trouble finding a quality ram rod He told me he was In the research phase of developing a Ram Rod and Agreed with me that using one with the ends epoxied or riveted into place is probably not the best route to go. Now I called phill today and he is still working on the development of this right now he is working on using a solid aluminum rod that is anodized black and threaded at both ends, the one detail he has yet to work out is what length to make the ram rod. He will probably offer custom lengths made to order. I also mentioned to him that there would be a market for a three piece take down model and He was receptive to that Idea. I gave him the length of the Ram rod I needed a 22 1/4 this would enable me to leave the spin Jag loader attached and It would fit flush with the end of my PAC Nor. Phill is going to put one of these together and call me.
