Im ready to order a set of Butlercreek scope covers for my 50mm Weaver Classic extreme. The first thing is I didn't know they made three different kinds. I'm leaning toward the see through blizzard unless you guys have a better idea! anybody know what size or num. to order for the Weaver? Thanks Rex

Rex, I think they have a scope chart on there site. I just put the blizzard's on my zeiss. the button flip ones lasted a week before they broke off just above the hinge. I think the blizzard's are a little more plyable. At least i hope so did not hunt with them yet. One other thing if your as forgetful as me, the see through's come in handy.

Thanks John
I been looking around at different places and they sure don't seem to be rated real high. Seems like they break pretty easy. Not quite sure what to do yet!

I'm very happy with mine. I finally broke one this year. It was below zero out and I think I pushed the gun backwards against a post when it was open. It still works fine, but the area around the hinge is cracked. Personally I use the solid black ones. Eventually the clear ones get so dusty and scratched, they can be pretty hard to see through.

I also see a scope shield and a scope coat. Any good experiences with these. Thanks Rex

I have the black ones also they are on my Zeiss 3.5-10X44 , they are great but keep in mind they are very fragile in the open state, especially any sideward stress they tend to snap off at the plastic hinge. I did contact a rep here in Canada complaining about how easily they broke and they claimed I was the first person to have broken them. I found that very hard to believe.

I use these because they shoot off very quickly by pulling on a strap in the back. Of course that does create motion if done quickly which might detract from their effectiveness but I usually don't have a whitetail or turkey just run by me where I don't have time to kneel down and take a good shot (there have been exceptions). Give it a look scopeshieldalaska.com/

I looked at scope shields on e-bay. I think they are the same ones. I might go that route instead of caps! thanks Rex

I ordered 3 shields for 36 bucks! I f I don't like them they should at least keep the dust out of the scopes.

I have had good luck with the flip up type. One thing you may need to look at is the space between the bell of your scope and the barrel. They take up space and if the clearance isn't there satisfaction cannot be.

I received my scopeshields off of e-bay and my conclusion is they are nice and should do well. They fit tight, should go through brush really well, extremely quiet, easy to take off and a simple loop that slides down your stock so it won't get lost. Even fits scope where there isn't much bell clearance. Even offers the whole scope protection. I think they would work well carrying a gun in a scabbard.

If you see a buck in Illinois, big enough to take off the scope cover... maybe you should consider covers a consumable item ;D.
