Pulled out my SavageMLII with the 26" 45 PCNR on it today. Still had 9 H4198 60gr loads left over from last year, so I decided to get those shot up. Shots 1, 2, & 3. 200gr SST 10sec knurl and Harvester Blue Crush rib. Ended up shooting my best group to date (shots 1,2, & 3). While it's kind of cool how it ripped the center out of that circle, I was actually aiming for the lower left circle. . I should have been only 2-3" high, but I was sighted in with 195BX's and non-crush rib sabots. (I'm making the switch from BX's to SST's this year for my hunting load. BX's have been the least consistent loading in my gun, and I'm tightwad, so the $1 a pop kind of gets to me. I really think the BX is a much better deer bullet than the SST, but I don't know if it really matters that much. I guess I'll find out. I should end up shooting 4-6 Iowa deer with it this year.) Shots 4,5, & 6. Same load as above. Shot about 15 minutes after 1-3. I adjusted down 3" and shot as fast I could load and shoot. I think shot 6 is where the heat started to show itself. Why the group shifted right when I only adjust down, I do not know. I think my scope is fairly level, but maybe I canted the gun some on that group. Shots 7-9. 200gr XTP and harvster light blue non-crush rib. Historically, this has been an extremely consistent loading with this gun. At this point, the barrel was getting noticeably warm. Still not a terrible group. I love my Savage 45PCNR.

I use snap cap vials. (They fit nicely in a butt stock shell holder for easy access in the field.)
