Gents, I am looking for a good accurate load for my 50 caliber Rem. 700ML using a lead bullet and black powder. I was going to try the BH209 powder and Thor bullets but have decided to go the cheeper way. One of the reasons I first started shooting black powder back in the 60's was to save money. I just can't see shooting deer with a muzzleloader that cost $2.00 to $3.00 a shot. Most of my shots are not that far anyway. What I want is a good accurate load that will reliably drop a deer in not to long a time. I don't mind if they run a ways, just so I have a good blood trail to follow. I believe in shooting clear through one for best results. Two holes, one going in and one letting out blood. All you Remington users, please let me know what you think would be a good load. Thanks,Bob

Bob, I was shooting 250 xtp in a black MMP sabot, pushed by 2 50g t7 pellets, all holes were touching (per my post) except for one that I threw. I have used this bullet with 100g pyrodex in my MK-85 and the bullet performed well) My gun was/is new to me and the 1st time I shot it was this am. My son has a 700 ml and he's shot a couple of deer with 100g loose pyrodex under a 260 knight lead bullet (he's cheap and they were the bullets that came with the new knights at the time) it did the trick. Unless you do hunters bolt/breech plug conversion (or something like that) black horn probably won't do what you want it to do.

Bob, I have great performance with Remington .458" 300 gr HP's and a Harvester black sabot using 120 gr loose FFFG T7 with RWS #11 Caps. Three shots touch holes at 100 yds. Iv'e since switched to .32 ACP ignition and nothing changed except the lack of blowback and a crud ring in the barrel.Good shoothing.

The 700ML shoots great with 80 grains of 3f Goex or Pyrodex RS. Anything but pellets.
