I have a friend that wants to buy the LRH, but wants either a 7mm win or 7mm saum.
I would appear that converting a 7mm Rem Mag to either of those calibers should only entail cutting about 3/8 off of the end and rechambering.
Am I wrong or have I missed something?
Thanks for any help.

no but then you have a short mag on a long action and have defeated the purpose of a short mag. And that action is LONG. I can load my 6.5-284s as long as i want and have room to grow. Also had to find a scope that was long enough to avoid using extension bases. May not be a big deal but I figured you may want to think about it and maybe hear from someone with a fairly short cartridge in that rifle and long action. You could easily do it though. Have to get your bolt face changed too though i think.. Could be wrong though. No experience with saum and little with WSMs.

a little late in seeing this, but I have a 7mm SAUM reamer and a go-gage if you need to borrow it.
If you really want a screaming 7mm, look into the 7mm RUM. I've had 4 of them in my grubby paws over the last 3-4 years, all box stock Remmys in different flavors, and they shot lights out with 160gr Accubonds and a good dose of H50BMG.

Thanks for the replies. He contacted Savage and they will make a custom shop in what he wants.....he didn't say the price though but I assume not as much as the gunsmith route.
