Harbor Freight has the economy model Non-Contact Pocket Thermometer on sale for $9.99 (on the website it is $8.99).

This is a great tool to have in warm weather to monitor barrel temp. One thing that I have found is that with a highly reflective surface, like a SS barrel, you sometimes get weird readings. I will put the thermometer right to the barrel. I will even mark a area on the barrel with a sharpie so I take the reading in the same place.
