I have a fishing pier dart that I modified to carry long rods on. I took some 1 1/4 PVC and put a 5' piece in a rod holder on each end of one side of the cart. Then with two PVC 90 degree elbows I connected the two with another piece of 1 1/4 PVC.I then screwed tool hanging hooks in the upright pieces of PVC to hang my rods on. Kind of like a Rifle Rack. When I go the the range I hang 4 rifles on the rack, put my cooler and range boxes in place and roll from my truck to my shooting station and every thing is right there in one easy trip

I drive my truck right up to the door of our range (about five long feet ;D) and unload my stuff. Done! Seriously, when we go to our long range matches, there are a lot of guys who have made up various carts to move their "stuff" from the truck to the bench. A popular one are those "little red wagons" with the wood sides. We are fortunate at our club to have a regular drive up to the line type of range. You unload and then park about 20 feet away. A little late, but here goes. I modified a deer cart to haul my gear at service rifle matches. Basically, I just added a leg that I can fold down on the end furthest from the handle. I've also used tarp straps to secure a 50 gal trash can to a 2 wheeled cart. Works okay too. Some friends of mine who shoot service rifle also bought collapsible aluminum rickshaws and those are SWEET, but they cost $200 back in 2004. One of them was using the trash can and cart idea at camp perry and had a blow out on one of the tires. He is probably 225 lb, and one of his buddies had a rickshaw. He emptied it out and told my buddy to get in. He did, at which point the guy had my buddies wife (90 lb soaking wet) push him up and down the range with it. They ordered a pair of them when they got back home from nationals....
