I have an Alpha Model Shooting Chrony. I have had it for 7 or 8 years but only used it when The guy I bought it from showed me it worked. I set it up today Plugged in the battery, Turned it on and it reads AL with flashing thingys on ea side of the AL. The book says it is ready but when I shoot nothing changes on the screen. I have it set up about 7 feet from my bench in the shade and am shooting a pellet rifle. The same thing happened at my hunt club a few weeks ago. Any help please? If someone PMs me I will call or you can call me. Sometimes phones are better than puters. Thank you Rusty

Deadon, I have not used a Chrony Brand chronograph, but I went to the company web page and read the Alpha manual. Under troubleshooting they suggest that, if it fails to read, there is a possibility that it is not aligned properly so that the bullet passes over the eyes. On my Oehler, there seems to be a "Sweet Spot" that is roughly the middle third of the area defined by the diffusers. When I started using a laser boresighter to align the screens, most of my chrono problems disappeared. Sunny or cloudy, my Oehler works better with the diffusers. To clarify your post, your bench is in the shade but the Chrony is in the sun? If the tips and trouble shooting section doesn't help, their email is chrony@shootingchrony.com Boarhog

boarhog, your the man ;D Thank you. I am the most unorganized man on this planet. If its not hanging up or on a shelf where I can see it I cant find it. I am still looking for the instruction manual that came with the chrony. I am also still looking for a cheap camera tripod. Sometimes my shooting bench is the hood of my 2500 ram pickup and finding one tall enough that will adjust down to my bench has been a chore on my limited budget. Thanks for the info. I will call or email them tomorrow Rusty
