I had a fellow come up to me and ask do I have a powder measure at the range . I said I do and gave it to him thinking he had a black powder gun , bank I shot and a load crack he also shot . went over to him and low an behold he was putting 4064 imr anout 90 gr. with my measure set on that and shooting ,well I told him an short what in the hell he was doing said this was what was told him by a gun store where he had got the thing . after some helping him and showing him. I had just bought a pocket scale.we put on 40 gr. on the scales and that did not even come close to black powder 50 gr charge . He fired the 40 gr. with his sabots and said a mile load I told him after he was done shooting he could have blew off his head he was all smiles and thankful for the help .Was going back to the store ,then to get him a pocket scale . Said he thought there was something wrong ,didn't know what .At least this came out right .I don't know much about this gun except what I read here so I say thanks guys

You ought to stop at that gun store and give them an education on powder selection and weighing. Good thing that fella you ran into wasn't using bullseye. Of course people could actually read the owner's manual.

It's a very good thing that it was a Savage or you may have been picking pieces of shrapnel out of yourself.

Some books are to be tasted and spit out. Some should be chewed and swallowed. The book that comes with the Savage ML should be chewed, swallowed, digested and followed precisely. There are many ways to make mistakes and many ways to be careless, But, reading and following the contents of the Savage booklet is not a mistake or a careless step. That is my sermon and you can take it to the bank. Or ignore it and take it to the hospital or graveyard. Be nice to your friends and family and take care of yourself.
