Tinkering is the name of the game and decided to build a jig that I might need. Soon I will be experimenting with using a duplex sabot. What I wanted to do was glue the bases together on some to see if this is beneficial in some way. Instead of making a small jig to glue one at a time I said “What the Heck” and built a jig that would do 6 at a time. The jig also provides some pressure to hold the 2-sabots together while the glue cures. I also made 6-Insert pins and to keep them handy decided to drill a hole tray on the back of the jig. The only thing that ticked me off I screwed up one hole location. But it’s still functional and does what it needs too. This will also be a good reminder to pay closer attention to what I’m doing. Anyway felt like sharing my latest not quite perfect project. ;D Ed

Interesting........ what bullet, cal. rifle are you working with? 200SW - 40Cal Bullet - 45 Sabot with cup base removed and inserted in 50 Cal Harvester Black Crush Rib sabot to be shot out of 50 Cal - 10ML-II. Experiment to see if a lighter 40Cal bullet can be shot accurately out of 50Cal with velocity of 2500-2600fps. Ed

I've said it before and I'll say it again....Ed is the KING of tinkerers! ;D Good idea.... Zen Kings don't make mistakes but Dukes do. ;D ;D The tool works nicely and hope that load will too. And if drilling should possibly occur then there are some #10 washers ready to be glued inbetween sabots. Backup plan compliments from Edge. Ed

ET............a man of my own heart! ;D It will be interesting to see if this works? Somehow, I have the feeling that there might be too much plastic between the bullet and the walls of the bore? If it works, you will have provided a break through is slinging light bullets from a .50............Good luck with the project Ed. When are you planning to get out to test? Me thinks you need to retire and move down here to NC so you can play with Herman and I. ;D Richard

Richard Hope to get out around the end of March and start flinging. Richard I would just love to spend some time with You and Herman shooting rifles, muzzle-loaders and of course some BS to keep things interesting. I believe this has a good chance of working because there are 2-Harvester Sabots involved and from past Harvester performance experienced I feel I have a good shot at it. Wasn’t really thinking about accomplishing any break throughs so much so as fulfilling a belief that a lighter bullet can be shot well out of the 50. I guess you could say I have 3-chances coming up for trying 200gr bullets. But the best BC is with the 40Cal bullet and I want to give it my best with this one. So I thought what could I better with this combination. Well I could find a better way to more consistently and square trim off the cup base on the 45-sabot. And so I did with constructing a collect for this task with odd components laying around here. My mini lathe is getting more exercise now. Works like a charm and feel my odds for this working out has gone up even more. Thanks for the good luck wish support. Ed

So, you are using this device to trim the cup from the base of the sabot? Richard

So, you are using this device to trim the cup from the base of the sabot? Richard Would you believe I just finished that collect this morning. Then did a pack of 15-SW with sabots without loosing one on the lathe. The method with the Exacto and jig I would loose one sabot in 15 because of a bad angled cut. Not anymore. Ed
