One process that can be aggravating is cleaning and working on a rifle especially in a confined area. Then of course the rifle often has to be turned around or you want to check your scope looking through it. So I decided to beat on my brain matter and looked around what I had on hand. Lets see there was an old 2-piece steel chair base and some 1-1/4” top rail from chain link fencing. Okay a plan formulated and I put something together that actually turned out well. I opted for welding the top rail to the lower base of the chair keeping the swage end up. The upper piece of the chair base slid nicely onto the swage end of the top rail. There is no real play with this fit so it is like a solid post but can be turned. Just lucked into this fit. Anyway my rifle cleaning chore or any maintenance got a little simpler with body positioning and movements. Also this one was a cheapy. ;D Ed

Ed... You're the king of the Tinkerers Zen Duke maybe but not King. ;D Thanks for the complimentary thought. This project worked out so well I thought someone might benefit from this approach. Even though it has a high center of gravity it would take a good push/hit to knock it over. It works for me. Ed
