Today's shooting was all at either 100 or 200 yards. Had not shot 200 in a while and what with the upcoming competition, I thought I had better get crackin'! ;D
The first six groups were "tweaks" from last weeks results based on input from Edge. While velocity increase was there, overall accuracy did not improve. The attempt was to get the velocity up on the sabot less loads to somewhere near my saboted loads. Targets one and two saw an increase of my booster by one grain. This upped my velocity by about 37 fps based on two groups shot today as compared to one group shot last week.
(17/56------N-110/N-130 up to 18/56)
Groups 3 and 4 was an increase of 1.5 gr. on the booster. (5/66-----N-110/N-120 to 6.5/66) This increased the velocity from 2738 to 2861
All four of these groups did not showed increases in group size.
I did take the 6.5/66 load out to 200 where it performed respectable but not great (target 5)
Targets 6 and 7 were loads that had performed well last week at 100 yards. While group 6 had great possibilities, it performed about the same as last week only twice as big (twice as far) The same load with the Barnes 195 did not do as well for five shots but hung in there for the first three!
Probably the best results came from a "tweak" on a load that has shot great for me ( and Herman too) but lacked velocity. The previous load was 15/55----N-110/H-322 @2632 fps. This was upped to 17/56 which produced 2820 fps and a 2.3" five shot 200 yard group........(target #8)........It just might like another grain of booster
On target #6..........if you look at the velocity on shots #1 and 5 you will See they were identical. I had forgot to turn on the chronograph and missed shot #3 (trying to conserve battery power) You will note that these three shots are "one - holers" I would like to have known the velocity of that #3
All in all it was a good day as Herman indicated!
Another point...........Target #5 at 200 yards is the target Rexxer has us using for the upcoming competition.
