In a recent poll over 80 percent of responders felt they could shoot MOA or SubMOA. That was using a rest. I have to say that the membership has a lot of self confidence. SubMOA shooters represented over 60 percent. With that kind of accuracy the freezers of hunters where deer are plentiful are likely full. IMO that is excellent shooting and obviously there are many very accurate rifles and MLs out there. When I started the poll I figured that about 80 percent would be around 1.5 MOA. I put myself down as 1.25 MOA. Members, at least those who responded to the poll are better than average shooters.

Ozark i bet you under estimate your self some. you do good at cracking thoes eggs under a time constraint, so i bet you are a bit better than that on a bench punching holes. I hope to be able to shoot that good at your young age. at 39 my skill are sub siding from when i was 20.
I have more patience when shooting but my eye sight isnt as good as it was when i was 20 and i still dont need glasses YET.

The reason for the high accuracy finding is likely because most of those here and posting are gun nuts. They're not the run of the mill guys who shoot their rifle once after buying it and then hunt for years without firing it again unless they see a deer. The quality of rifle owned by gun nuts also tends to be better and lends itself to better accuracy. You put down 1.25MOA for yourself. That may be with your current lightweight hunting rifle with factory ammo but I'll guarantee you'd be hard pressed to shoot groups that large with a good heavy barreled target rifle......I think you're judging your equipment and not yourself.

I just think Ozark is a little modest. I would like to see what we, gun nuts, would rate ourselves as off hand shots at 100 yards. It would be hard for anyone here to say because most of us don't shoot off hand standing enough to know. I know this though, I don't shoot off hand unless I have to and as I have stated before I only have one rifle (but two barrels for it) that I am comfortable saying I can hit a deer at 100 yards, off hand, with. Bench shooting is a whole different animal than hunting and although I can shoot well from a bench I would hesitate to say I am a great shot all around. I am good enough to find the capabilities of a rifle from a bench but I know several who can't shoot a 2 inch group from a bench but they can throw up and knock a deer down with the same rifle off hand at 200 yards, I have seen them do it all the while telling them they shouldn't take this shot. I consider these people to be better shots than me. When looked at objectively, my objections to them taking the shot was probably more ego than sense, A guy who knows he is good from a bench hates to be shown up by the average hunter who is just a good shot period, he can put the bullets where they need to be when it really counts.
