I'm thinking about getting a ground blind. Any thoughts on if anyone makes a decent one for in the $150 price range or do I need to spend $300. for a good one? I'd like to set it out in Sept and leave it out until the New Year.

I would not want to leave an expensive blind out that long so I would be looking to spend less too. Give Dick's, BassPro, or Cabelas a try; they usually have pretty good sales this time of year.

Thanks for the help guys but I bought a blind today. It is an Ameristep Intimidator Blind. I found it at Rural King. It was orginally $279.00 and marked down to $209.00. It was further on sale and I bought it for $125.99 and it has a $50.00 rebate. So the total cost was $75.99. I don't know if it's a good blind or not but for the price, I bought it.

A friend of mine has the Ameristep Doghouse blind among others. The Doghouse is good because it just pops up on its own, just a little small to use with a bow.

Tick,
you may want to check and make sure that the camo material that your New blind is made of contains no UV brighteners.
I bought an expensive Double Bull ground blind in Predator Deception Camo back in 2002. The quality, camo, frame, design and ease of use were very good.
However I was perplexed as to why you couldn't ever get a deer or turkey in range of it in low light as they always seemed to pick it out no matter the set, especially early morn and late eve when the game was the most active.
Come to find out this year when I checked it in low light with a black light it glowed like a neon bulb!, Bingo!!! I tried treating it with Atsko UV Killer and it still glows.
I also checked my hunting clothes and 1/2 of them were the same way. I thought to myself that is why deer sometimes seem to pick me off in a tree stand in low light when I know I haven't moved!
I disposed of all the hunting clothes that glowed and bought new ones that didn't. I made sure of that. I even went so far as to take the black light to the store to check them before buying.
I still have the Double Bull Ground blind but I always cover it with military radar scattering camo from Army Surplus store and that helps a bunch. That stuff is the best I have ever seen.
PS: I called Summit Industries about their New Run-N-Gun ground blind and talked to a sales rep. I asked about whether there were UV brighteners in the camo material it was made of and bottom line he didn't know. He said that most of the camo came from china and it was made the way the manufacturer ordered it! I said if it didn't I would buy one. He was going to check and call me back. He never called back so I guess it glowed like a hot air balloon.
Bottom line is , it's a whole lot easier to check before buying and will definitely help in low light conditions if it doesn't contain this brightening agent.

Tick,
you can buy a 24" black light complete with a 6' cord from Wal- Mart for less than $10. It is cheaper than buying replacement bulbs.
Then you can check your camo gear etc, at home anytime you want.
Buy New camo gear take it home and check it and if it glows take it back, or do like I did and take the light with you. I realize this might not work at Wally World, but if you explain why most stores will go along with you.

Just a question. I have a tripod blind. It blew over in a recent storm. Is it now a ground blind?

This is the most awesome blind I've not seen. Check it out WWW.ghostblind.com These guys were thinking outside the box. It beats huddling in an outhouse blind with your buddy blowing each others noses! This design prevents your brain from processing what you see. I wish I thought of this. It's made in our great State of Ohio in Marrietta. I know just know that the the owner had to take this design from some Special Forces Black Ops experimental equipment that he was exposed to.

That thing is wicked. Looking at some of the video on their site, it disappears... You could make your own large one for $120- www.wallcovering-store.com/Mirror_laminate/Mir_Silver_H23_Mirror_Laminate.php

W A R N I N G !!!stay away from a company that sells mirrored hunting blinds ie: Predator V4.5 The Company HUNT USA owns mirrorhunting.com. and is owned by Roger Lewis Jr. I purchased one for $1000. They charged my credit card and 10 weeks later no blind. Contacted Mt. Pleasant Police Dept in Mt. Pleasant, Texas Ph: 903-575-4004Bottom line: Stay Away, shady operation in trouble with the law and also scammed others beside me: I got my money back from the credit card company. Luckily I used a credit card. Any questions: Contact Sergeant Cary @ the Mt. Pleasant Police Dept at the phone number above. This outfit is not associated with www.ghostblind.com and as far as I know are legit and credible with an innovative NEW product. You have been forewarned! Pocampo
