Can you get these barrels with open sights on them or would you suggest not doing that? Thanks

they would have to be added after headspacing the breechplug, not sure if Pacnor does that, but should be no problem for the local gunsmith.

Most want these for better accuracy and speed so I would guess not many are used without a scope. I have three Savs, two with aftermarket barrels. I took the open sights off the factory barrel and did not want them with the others but that is entirely a personal preference. Whatever you like will be best for you.

I have not ever heard of a Pacnor barrel coming with iron sights. Like jims said most go to the pacnor for increase accuracy or extended range where a scope is more common. I'm sure a qualified gunsmith could do the work.

This is just my opinion, but if at all possible I would always buy any rifle with iron sights if available, as if you are on a out west hunt or a back pack hunt and your scope fails, iron sights will save your hunt. I have no plans on removing the sights off my 10ML-II.
So far I have been able to bring a back up rifle for all my out west hunts, but if I am ever going to go on a purely back pack hunt were a back up rifle is not an option, I will have iron sights installed on my rifle. Looked into caring a pre zeroed back up scope in quick change mounts, but I was never able to find a set up I had total faith in, and did not wish to invest the $$$ to try one out.
Just my opinion.

Leupold quick detachables work great Art. Been doing what you suggested for a few years and I'm not even hunting out west. ;D
It's easy to do, and easy to build faith in....simply by doing it! Not very expensive.
One time I shot a 5 shot group at 100 yds by switching scopes between shots. For those of you with these mounts, you know that it takes about 30 seconds and no tools. That group was under 3 inches and the impact of the group was centered where it should have been. Nothing to win a tournament with, but a deer will lose everytime.
Your open sight option is a valid one...if you like open sights and can shoot them well. I'll do anything I can to avoid them.

My opinion is the same as RB's. I will not put them on a barrel. Drilling and taping is too critical. Go a tad too far with the drill and you just ruined a $400 barrel . Decide to change your headspace after they are on? You are S _ _ t out of luck A spare scope and mounts are the cure for a broken or bad scope as has been mentioned! Richard
