I was taught how to adjust and use binoculars and carried a pair for many years in the Army. I just received the Nikon 10x56 and I am exceptionaly well pleased. Chrystal clear vision, nice magnification and easy to focus and adjust to my vision. By far the best binoculars I have ever looked through. Clear focus for close in or far out objects. I was a bit concerned before trying them about the heavy weight. Due to age and probably some medications my hands have a slight tremble but the weight of these binoculars stops the tremble and I don't notice any movement when viewing objects at any distance. I wear glasses and these binoculars accomidate them without notice. I would give them a five star rating because I can't think of how they could be better for me. Ozark

I have had an obsession with quality optics ever since i was a kid while building my own astronomical telescope. I have collected high quality binoculars for many years and have been a bird watcher and amatuer astronomer ever since i can remember. With all of these optics related hobbies, i am continually reading the reviews of newly released binoculars and spotting scopes as well as astonomical scopes. Here is a review that might be of interest to binocular users: www.birds.cornell.edu/Publications/LivingBird/Winter2005/Age_Binos.html And another site that i frequent which offers some good reviews: www.cloudynights.com/category.php?category_id=2 The Nikon Monarchs have been hard to beat at their price range ever since they were introduced. I carry the Nikon Monarch 8.5x56 when stand hunting, so you know that i not only say that they are good.........i actually believe it enough to use them myself.

I have the Nikon Monarch 8X42 ATB. Could not be more pleased. You could spend more and get less.
A friend has a pair of Leupold 6X Yosemites, that I was impressed with.

I was a bit concerned that 10X might be a bit much for normal viewing but find that it is perfect. Like in shooting it takes a lot of practice to bring the binoculars up and be on target instinctively. I see others bring binoculars up and are unable to point them at the object they want to view. I am able to be on target instantly. I think it comes from directing machine gun fire for years plus using them in the field a lot. I have never heard much about how to aim binoculars by instinct but if someone has suggestions then I am sure that many would benefit. All I can suggest is to practice bringing them up and engaging different objects at a variety of ranges. It took my wife a long time to find deer from our cabin window but with time and her interest she got proficient with them.

thx for the nikon report--question to all here,i dont know much about bino's. my next main bino will be carried in a backpack in the mountains of colorado, after logging over 2200 miles over 17yrs im searching for a suitable fit, i mainly will be glassing elk @long range(500yds to 1mile) but do not have to have the best, after your review i am looking @ the monarch 12x42 atb, im looking imo for a mid-size bino in a price range say $200-500, they will double for glassing whitetails here in the 200yd -500yd range. thx for your suggestions!!

deadeye, I believe you will be satisfied completely. I have had my eyes glued to mine since they came and I am more than just satisfied. I am tickled pink. I don't see how any could be brighter or better in any way regardless of price. I wear glasses and these are amazing in every feature.
