Recently I had forgotten to pack my chest waders to cross a swamp to get to my deer hunting stand. I usually cross the knee high water with my boot foot chest waders and then take the waders off and replace them with 14" hunting boots while in the tree stand as the chest waders are uncomfortable and noisy for deer hunting. My hunting partner allowed me to borrow his canvas hip waders on this particular day and I was very suprised at how comfortable they were. So comfortable and quiet that I kept them on the whole day of the hunt.
I offered to purchase this set from my hunting partner but these hip boots were passed down to him from his father. I am wondering if anyone here has experience with wearing hip boots for hunting? As I scan the internet I see that there are many varieties but mostly for fishing. I am looking for an insulated hip boot that is briar resistant, comfortable and quiet without the felt or lug bottoms. Anyone have any suggestions?

Doug WICKS, better known as {W.O.W) Wicks Outdoor Works is no longer in business unfortunatley. There are 2 other companies that sell a very similiar product. They both offer a light weight chap and a heavy weight chap.If you want comfortable go with the light weight chap as the heavy weight is stiff and noisy.Following is a link to a suppplier out in Texas.I can personally vouch these people. They are best.I buy all of coonhunting equipment from them and have never had a issue.I even bought a used light from them once that was OUT of warranty and a switch went bad. They not only fixed it but paid the shipping both ways!Thats how they do business.Great people to deal with.If for some reason their products do not flip your switch, let me know as I know many more people in this business. www.valleycreekhuntingsupply.com

Thanks Tar........I will call them on Monday to ask questions concerning the fabric used as chaps. I am looking for fabric that won't make much noise when they rub together. I also see that they sell muck boots with chaps on ebay. Looks like a good price. Thanks for the tip.
