I don't see why it won't work. I seem to remember 06, 08 and 30-30 accelerators being a 223 bullet in a sabot, I'm looking for opinions and or experience of doing this with a 45-70 to shoot 200 gr pills with a tan or blue sabot. Thanks in advance ron

This sounds very interesting. I have a contender in 45-70. The 200 Grain sst has a great reputation as well as the 195 grain Barnes. I may have to experiment with these for next deer season. It seems like it will be possible. The guys on the smokeless page have done much work that may well be an easy cross over to the 45-70.

I have been using the blue smooth Harvester 45/40 sabots with a 41cal xtp and have been using the green smooth 50/44 in the 500sw mag with 5744 or titegroup the cool thing about it you dont have to resize your case, In a handi rifle anyway.

I messed with it some, didn't have very much luck with it, but your experience could be different, never tried the 41 cal bullets though

Yeah I you use the 41cals with 45/40 sabot in the 450 marlin H&R Ultra hunter they fit tight and you dont have to resize your case same with the 50/44 sabots in the SW500 mag I just use the Lee universal decapping die it wont size anything you have to play with your charges to get them to shoot.
