Praying works. I heard tractors running across the hill today. They were bailing hay on a new subdivision that was just laid out. I went to find out who owned it to get permission to call coyotes. I had been hearing them since we moved here a year ago. The farmer was glad that I came to him. He wanted me to kill all those coyotes there and he said he owned the next farm and the one across the road and to hunt them there also. I was almost afraid to mention that I deer hunt as well. Before I could bring it up he said there were deer and hog there as well. He told me I could hunt it all. Bow, Mzl, and Gun. The farmer told me there was a deer that was almost gray and had more than 12 points. I had seen 10 deer in one herd the other day but did not see anything as big as a 12 point. Did not know about the hogs. Hogs are open year round. Getting permission to hunt around here without $$$$ is almost impossible. All I can say is thank God for answering prayer because I have been praying for the chance to hunt these deer.

Its great to be able to offer a service (coyote control) in exchange for hunting permission. Coyote and feral hog control are fun chores to a shooter and are a 12 month activity but can be a real pain to a farmer. Cultivate that friendship and be very careful never to compromise your relationship. Closing gates, knowing where he is working and letting him know where to expect you mean a lot to a farmer. He likely can tell you a lot about where he has seen game recently as well. Sharing, or at least offering to share, the venison and pork you collect might just help as well.
Very high on the list is not taking strangers on his property without his express consent! You could have many years of a mutually advantageous relationship if you play your cards right. Congratulations! You are right. God is good!!

Congratulations! You are right. God is good!! All the things you have listed are great advice and I have always used them without fail. I have a lease that I pay for 200 miles from here. I started out giving the farmer $300 for 1000 acres with the stipulation to control coyotes, deer, and to hunt it exclusively. Over the years the farmer has added to my lease three more farms totaling my acreage to more than 3,000 acres. Prior to my hunting his property he had stopped anyone hunting because of trespass from invited friends of the former hunters. I hunt all this property alone with the exception of my daughter and son in law once or twice a year with the farmers permission. I always ask him every year if they can come even though I know it is alright. I still only pay $300 for it all. I am a blessed man !
