Deer season for my crossbow opens in October and that isn't far away. I plan on killing a nice one and have a lady make it all in Jerky for half the meat. She and her husband live a few miles from here, have no electricity and doesn't want it. She dries the Jerky in a wood cookstove oven and does a fine job cutting it in thin slicesa cross grain. We get to decide the flavor. If I have no luck with the crossbow then I will use the .243. I may thin some others out if I find people who will dress and take care of the meat for themselves. I think my daughter and son may want to kill one also. My wife and I just don't care for the meat enough to fool with it. Anyway, the season is still exciting and I just hope I am able to hunt.

we really didn't have much of a summer huh? I'm actually loving this weather cause i don't care for the heat. In W. PA we are going to be in the upper 70s low 80s. we had very few 90s this year. the cooling ALWAYS makes me look forward to hunting season! will your area have a colder /harsher winter than normal? good luck Ozark! if i could we could go out together and help each other!! I'm sure you will not have any shortage of help with hunting! if i cant get much hunting in i may try talking the wife into going to the Blue Ridge Mountains/ sky Line DR. to look at the colorful leaves. or just go to East Brady PA. to the over look and get some nice pics. Now I'm really looking forward to fall!!

Be returning home from Florida next week in time to get ready for deer season. Can't wait to go see how big last years crop of spikes and forks have become. Gotta get busy and eat up all of last year's supply of deerburger so there will be room for this years harvest.
