I don't know the full story but the G&F are capturing deer and putting tracking collars on them to get more information on where they go when hunting pressure alters their habits. Plus, I think they are going to study such things as when they are nocturnal and its causes. I don't know what they will discover or how it will help. My guess is the trauma of being captured and handled by human will cause them to leave their home range at least for awhile. They are using nets along with live traps and tranquilizers for getting the collars attached. It is my suspicions that it is just a project that some have come up with to have a good time and calling it valuable work for pay. I hope I never get as pessimistic as Buckrub? LOL

Wow, What fun you can have with that! I'm sure there is some kind of document that gives the frequenceis and areas they are using. Make a FOI request and you are in business. I'd like to kill one of them deer and put the collar on a coyote from my trapline. Guess then they'd have a whole new perspective on "evolution". Lots of fun in a twisted sorta way. 10ga

Nothing new, Pa has them already, and now is into their second year. I understand they can also tell when a deer is down, shot or otherwise. But to beat everything, they have tagged some deer and are offering a $100 dollar reward for anyone reporting a tagged deer they shot during hunting season. One of the things they're studying is fawn dispersal. Have a great day! Dave
