Same day starts the ML season in the northern part of New York. I am blesed in that both of my grown sons will again be in camp for the opening weekend. (we are heading up early friday am, the boys may sneak in a bow hunt on Friday afternoon, I will try to pot a fresh turkey Friday evening which will be sunday dinner if I can connect. But the real event begins saturday am. Good luck to you and all heading out. Hunt safe.

Well the first day in AR for '09 is now history. Saw 5 1/2 deer (one I only saw the hind quarters of). Weather was nice and had I wanted meat for the pot I had several opportunities. Tomorrow the grandson is coming down and anything that walks in front is going to be fair game, but today I just enjoyed watching them from a lofty perch in my climbing stand. First time I've used it in about three years. Its nice, but not as comfortable as my nice 4x4 box.
Saw several nice does, and a couple yearlings, but no bucks today. Perhaps tomorrow.
