Let me preface this video by saying that I have my own Hawkeye borescope so what you are about to see is, in fact, the real deal. While this video was made by Lilja, one of the top custom barrels, it shows what a factory Remington barrel (just like a Savage .50 ML) looks like in comparison to what one of their custom barrels looks like (just like a Pac-Nor). This is why the Savage barrels are so hard to get to shoot as accurately or consistently vs. the Pac-Nors. This is not to say the Savage does not shoot OK, but it will never shoot like a custom Pac-Nor or other custom barrel. Richard

Richard, Like yourself and many other benchrest shooters, i also own a borescope and it is truly depressing to scope the chamber and bore of many factory barrels. It is certainly an eye opener the first time you see what came on that factory rifle! ;D

Great stuff. Who in your opinion has the best factory barrels, talking CF?

Wow! What a contrast between those two barrels. You would think that the Remington barrel would have no chance at MOA accuracy at any range.

Doug doug, i thought the same as that video has been on his website for years, dont get me wrong i like custom barrels but i have been able to achieve .5moa or better with every factory rem 700 i have set up including big bores such as the 300rum.//after a bed job & recrown & a developed custom handload!!

Richard thank you very much the video is very informative to me. The difference is night and day. To me it takes one problem out of the equation if you are having a problem. Jon

Dave W..........Its hard to say which factory barrels are the best? I have seen good and bad in many of them. There are so many variables and my shoulder is too sore to type a lot Richard

Makes me wonder just how good I could shoot if I had a rifle with a custom barrel. My M700 338wm in stainless W/synthetic stock shoots Honest to God MOA and has from the start even with the 15 rounds from the one and only partial box of factory ammo I have EVER shot out of it.
One of my next rifles will be a 10ML-II with a Pac-nore .45 cal barrel.
