Getting ready for hunting season, if my shoulder allows , I put the .45 in a Dura-Max stock to shave 3 lbs. off the weight. After getting the scope re-sighted in at the range today, I had three modified XTP's left and shot the first group with the duplex I was expecting to break into the 3,000 fps range A little slow, but it gets slightly better. Group two, I shot the same charge only with SST's Just OK Same combination now at 300 yards. A ten shot group! The only comment I want to make on this group is: Note: The two high shots? Both over 3,000 fps. These loads went down the bore quite hard. I had not used the oily patch first, only two dry ones. So obviously, tighter fit....higher velocity and impact point. It was nice to see the biggest cluster (7 shots) in 3.4" Groups 4 and 5 sabotless with two different duplexes shot just OK but gave very low ES's. I believe the Dura-Max shot as well as my thumbhole, but I definitely like shooting the thumbhole better. Its just more comfortable for me. Richard

Hillbill, A gunshop here had 2 two lb jugs of N-130. I bought 1, even tho I'm not sure how useful it will be in a .50. If you want, I'll ask if they can ship to TN?

Richard I saw the line if my shoulder allows in your post, I put a recoil reducer from Knox stocks on my 45. It is a spring system install easy on the plastic stock that comes with Savage, but on the Dura Max there is more grinding so I just put it on my old stock. Cost $74 from midway, it tamed my rifle down where it is fun to shoot. I don't recommend products often but with my neck problems this thing works.

Artway..........thanks for the tip. At this point, I am using the Lead Sled so I don't have a problem there. My problem is the rotator cuff on the right shoulder is torn and I am having surgery to repair it this coming Thursday. That will put my ML shooting on hold for probably the better part of a month. Three weeks with the "arm sling" to start with I'll probably do some playing with my .17 and .20 cal. varmint rifles and my long range XP-100's which will not impact the shoulder. Richard

Kevin.......I would, but I think hunting this year is going to be "defunct!". I get my shoulder operated on this coming Thursday (yep, the right one on a right hander ) So, no sense putting it on. Good luck with your new one. I keep mine in my rifle case as a spare when I go to the range but so far the 6.5 x 20 Leupold is doing well. Richard

I get my shoulder operated on this coming Thursday (yep, the right one on a right hander ) Richard Sorry to hear that, Richard......hope ya get well fast. On the other hand (pun intended), I have been shooting left handed ever since around 1960 with pretty good luck (ok, so I'm a "lefty"). A couple months ago, though, a friend insisted I shoot his BR. He already had it set up on the bench for his right-handed shooting, so I didn't bother to change anything. The result was a 3-shot group through one ragged .22 hole which varied around 1/16".......and I KNOW you're a better shot than me!!

Danno.........that will probably happen. Shooting BR rifles left handed . The problem with the ML's, is the loading procedure. I am accustomed to using two hands to seat my loads and also my cleaning procedure requires two hands to hold the gun and push the rod. Now if I could get Herman to load for me, I could still shoot it left handed.......hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm? Herman's hunting or I know he would respond ;D Richard
