I just received my new 2.5-10x50 WCE from Natchez today. After mounting it I noticed that the elevation adjustment cap has a green ring or washer (looks like anodized aluminum) that it screws down onto. The windage adjustment cap doesn't have one of these rings. It looks like the ring is meant for the cap to seat on and seal out moisture and dust (there's no rubber gasket like on most scopes). For those of you that have the WCE, does your scope have a gasket or the green aluminum washer on both adjustments? BTW, my scope came in an unsealed box that anyone could have opened and it didn't come with any lens covers....should it have? BTW, very nice and clear scope! thanks, Scott

My WCE came yesterday. Same model as yours. The same as you describe. Green washer under elevation cap nothing under windage. No lens caps. I thought they could have had lens caps. Also the battery was not installed but was in a seprate little plastic envelope. No instructions on what to do with it or anyting concerning the reticle. I'm experienced enough to figure it out but you think there would have been instruction with it. First impressions are that it looks big. I'm sure I will like it if it lives up to the Hype. Looks like it belongs on a varmit rifle where it may go after deer season. I'm wating for 30mm mounts for it. DH

Got mine today. It has the 56mm bell. it is BIG! I ordered the high Weaver steel rings and pop open caps at the same time. The rings said for scopes up to 44 mm bell, but I tried them, and they will work well with the 56mm. I'll have to remove the rear sight to be able to use the pop caps. I also noticed the green ring. Have no idea what it is for.

Thanks for the input DH and Boarhog. First time I ever bought a scope that didn't come with any type of lens covers...even the cheap plastic cups with the elastic string. At first I thought I might have gotten a return or demo model and the covers were missing, but I guess that's how they come. And it looks like the turret caps only have the green ring on the elevation...I guess both caps seal out water, I hope. I knew it would be a large scope and it makes my leupold 3-9x40 vxII look tiny. I have both scopes in Warne QD rings so when I get some time, I can switch back and forth between scopes and see any difference in clarity, brightness, etc. Although I've never been a big fan of illuminated reticles, this one's nice because just a very fine tiny dot in the center of the crosshair gets illuminated, not the entire crosshair and when you turn it off, the dot disappears and you're back to a regular black crosshair. And the German reticle isn't a big deal...just a regular duplex without the heavy top post. take care, Scott

Funny that I never noticed the green ring on the elevation knob. Yes the WCE is a big, heavy scope not compatible with all rifle types but it does seem to be holding up well to the heavy recoil of the 50 cal Savage. Take it out in dim light and compare the sight picture with other scopes. I think you will be suprised.

Take it out in dim light and compare the sight picture with other scopes. I think you will be suprised. Doug I compared it to a 4.5X14 50 mm VarX-3 and a 2.5X10 4200, both of which were significantly behind the WCE in clarity and light gathering. I wish it were smaller. It seems to be on the same level as the Nightforce 3.5X15 56mm. The brightness/dimness of the reticle seems to work about the same. To me, if the WCE had mds, it would be virtually perfect.
