Steiners are good glass and tough as nails. We used the 7X50s (M22) in the military with mil scale and laser reflective coatings, the objectives looked gold plated and when looking thru them there was a rose tint which kinda helped with contrast. Our method of cleaning was to wash them off in the sink to avoid scratching the lenses by rubbing the dirt, you just flushed it away. They do have a plant here in the US, one of the clauses of the military contract and I think last year got bought up by Beretta. Much like a lot of the lower end Zeiss products nowadays while the glass is Zeiss it is actually ground by Meopta in the Czech Republic.
