Ok, new member here. 40+ year black powder shooter, but a newbee on smokeless muzzleloaders. I also am very poor with computers and message boards so bear with me.
I have been wanting a Savage 10 ML II. None locally, and some on Gunbroker have went for over $2,000, with most going for $1,500. Not wanting to really pay that.
However multiple times at my local gun shows over the past year or so, a guy there has had an original 10 ML. Except for it taking a primer module (of which he had none), I knew little about the gun. And at that time knew of no where to get a module., which rendered the gun useless to me. I have since researched the 10 ML extensively, but some questions remain.
I have found primer modules at Badger Ridge Industries ( one problem solved).
So here are my questions....................
Is it likely that the breechplug for this model will need replaced at some point?
I assume the breechplug because of the primer module is different from the 10 ML II's breechplug?
If it is different from the 10 ML II, is there anyone making a replacement breechplug for the 10 ML as I've found nothing online?
I found the manual for this gun on Savage's website. In the manual it mentions the vent liner, but no pics or other info.
I assume the vent liner for the 10 ML is different from the 10 Ml II?
So, does the replacement vent liners for the 10 ML II work on the 10 ML?
If not does anyone make vent liners for the 10 ML?
There is a gun show in a week and hopefully the guy still has it. Of course the bolt was Ty-Wrapped closed as all guns here are at gun shows. I will have him cut it off so I can see the condition of the bolt and breechplug. The gun looked otherwise in great shape.
Any other advice on what I should look for, or reasons to avoid the 10 ML would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
Steve
