Is it possible to shoot 250TEZ in a fifty caliber bore using 4198 or reloader7 without using a duplex load?

If you research the board you will find that H4198 and a 250 gr bullet is a common load. You will also find posts claiming poor ignition in cold temps. I have used this powder and bullet/sabot combo for years in Western NYS in very cold temps. 68 gr is on the light side for the 250. I have shot as much as 80 gr at 2,800 fps. Nary an ignition issue. To each his own but what you are asking about is basically my go-to for 2 decades.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I used to use a 250gr SST with H4198 with the HPH-12 sabots and an MMP sub base running around 2600 fps, but it was a duplex load. I still have my load data from those days (almost 20 years ago now), but I'd rather not go back to using a 2nd powder so I hadn't bothered to look my data up yet. If you're using it in western NYS with just a bare sabot, I should be good to go in central Indiana.

Question the loads are they shot in a small shank barrel nut or a large shank direct fit . I feel that people tend to leave out the design of there firearm when quoting loads .I believe that it should stated just in case someone gives aload for a large shank .Thanks for the info i was going to pkay around with new loads in a savage ml2

I started with 69gr to 70gr of IMR4198 with a 300gr bullet when my 10ML-ll was new. And still shooting the same load and I have shot a 3 shot group at 100 yds that was .452 with a .458 bullet. I have only change the breech plug to the carbide vent liner the rest is totally stock. I have a strange breech plug too the vent liner is 3/8"x3/8". I got it to try out from AL before they went with the 1/4"x3/8". Back before they had carbide vent liner available that was long ago. I still have it in my gun today and it was recced too. Recced plugs were a lot later after the carbide vent liner too.
