Hello all. New to the board, new to smokless muzzleloading. I have reloaded for years. I have an original ML10 that I have converted to a .45 Brux barrel that I ordered from Arrowhead. It shoots very well and I am enjoying this new venture. I also have an ML10-II that I am going to keep all original. It is a long shank. I would like to shoot bullet to bore and was recommended the Fury Universal Fit bullets. I ordered the bullets and Dennis suggested I look here for load data. The load database has several loads. Most are sabot loads. Those that are sabotless, most are duplex loads. I'm not afraid to try the duplex loads, but I would like some info, if available, for starting loads for the 285 grain Fury. I have plenty of IMR 4198. Slightly less than a pound of N110. Do any of you experts have any starting points you would be willing to share? I prefer accuracy over speed. But if speed increases accuracy I am happy to build up to the safest, fastest, most accurate load. Thanks in advance.

In my 10ML-ll 50 I shoot sabots but in my Stevens 200 45 just a lubed wad and a .451 290gr TEZ both over IMR4198. I have always used .458 300gr hp in a sabot in my 50 since it was new. When I did my 45 it was always a wad and bullet. Both gun use the same IMR4198 load with a Win 209 primer. I have the carbide vent liners in both guns too. That way I do not need to mess with stock screws. Every time I would mess with them the POI would change a little so I had to adjust the scope each time. Now I open the bolt use a socket swivel and extension to remove the breech plug. And WELCOME TO DOUG'S MESSAGE BOARD.

Thanks cuda.
Do you think a starting sabot load would be a safe place to start for a sabotless load? I have shot my .45 sabotless with great results. I would assume that a safe .45 load would be a safe .50 load, but just wanted some opinions first.
Thanks again for your input.

I use 69gr of IMR4198 in both of my guns. I use a 300gr hp in a BCR in my 50 and in the 45 a lubed wad with a .451 290gr TEZ. If you want to try 65gr as a starter and then up to 69gr it is below the max pressure in a 50. The 45 will be higher pressure than a 50.

Sounds good. I was even planning on starting lower than that due to lack of information. But if 65 is still below max pressure, I'll start there.
Thank you for your response. 👍

You can always look at the pressure test to see where you are. Some time I do go up to 70gr but mostly I stay at 69gr and 70gr is below max pressure too.

I have a Remy 50 with smokeless 50 barrel, I fought it until I tried the fury 285s , totally changed my gun, it does what I wanted from the start now. I have shot 44.5 of A5744 at @2100fps with great accuracy. And then tried 10/50 A5744/H4198 and got 2270fps , 24" barrel, large mag rifle primers. Both loads under 1" 3shot groups @100yds. I've talked to some guys on the other forum and I can probably squeeze more speed but I can't shoot far enough to need it where I hunt
