Hey just hoping someone can give me good advise on Misfires in my Old Savage ML-I. It's the model that uses modules . modules are somewhat loose fitting so I think I;m getting failure to seal upon ignition. Does Savage still have Modules available Please give me some direction thanks a lot Doc Stone

I would switch it over to a 209 breechplug to get away from the modules. There was a guy who posted some time back about having aftermarket modules. Savage no longer supports these MLs to my knowledge.

hey doc,
i shimmed the bolt face with a .002-.003 shim stock, cut stock to fit bolt face, then used firing pin to locate and make hole, used weather strip glue to hold sim in bolt face. bolt closes hard and that tightened up my modules and i seldom have misfires.

They can safely inspect your Savage ML-I, diagnose the issue, and recommend appropriate solutions.

In my opinion a large percentage of gunsmiths will have less knowledge regarding this particular muzzleloader than some of the people on this board.
