Good day,
has anyone tried these new bore driver 340g ELD-X in their smokeless? Are they even safe to shoot? I have a couple boxes I would like to test them but I'm not going to shoot one until I hear from someone way more knowledgeable than myself lol. My load last year was 39g VV110 and Hornady 250g SST. Any input would be very much appreciated, if its safe to shoot I will report back with my results.
Thanks

What gun do you have to shoot them?

I am shooting a Remington 700 short action with IBI 416 light varmint 26" smokeless barrel 1:20 twist, Arrowhead module. Bought it from a local smith he says that its designed to shoot any safe load for the Savage smokeless.

I was out shooting these 340g ELD-X bore drivers the other day with my smokeless setup. I used BH209 since I’m still unsure if it’s safe to shoot with smokeless. 3 shot group with all 3 touching each other at 130 yards. 110g by volume of BH209. 1965fps was my average with only about 20 fps deviation.
I’m looking to be able to shoot 250-300 yards for my fall hunt confidently I have AA5744 and VV110 to work with
I’d take any suggestions anyone has
Thanks

The powders you have will not easily give you the yardage you are after. Powder 4198 will give you higher velocities with heavier bullets. Going by bullet weight a load of 66-70gr of 4198 would be a good starting point.

I think the red base material is gonna be limiting factor when you start pushing em. If it's the same as the sst sabots I burned em up in my 50 smokeless over 5744 powder. Couldn't hit broad side of a barn with them

Would they be safe to shoot with VV110? 39g? I have both at hand and would report back my results.
I also have AA5744. I’m in Canada so my power availability is very limited
Thanks
