While it’s quiet I thought I would toss out this thread. One of my better investments for SML loading is switching to a 3/8” aluminum ramrod tipped with a Spinjag. www.spinjag.com/spinjag_original.php Over time I have discovered that a tighter fitting bullet/sabot load performed better. Now the level of load tightness I use, requires 2-hands. The final seating got a little difficult because the force had to be applied onto a 3/8” diameter area. Here a palm saver or slip on T handle will make life easier again. So, a tighter fitting load doesn’t have to be an uncomfortable chore. I guess the only drawback is if you get a blank 3/8” rod you will have to drill the tip and tap a 10/32 thread for the Spinjag. IMO it’s worth the trouble. Anyway, hope you enjoy your SML adventure.

I too like a Spinjag on my ramrod. I also order my ramrods from Spinjag, just give them the overall length and the jag I want to use and it shows up and fits perfectly. However, I use their 9mm rod vs the 3/8 rod. No particular reason for the 9mm though.

Not having any familiarity with it I can’t comment about it. But I can comment on my Spinjag that I’ve owned for years. No long spiel just money well spent for SML accessory.

I've been using Luke's Solid Aluminum Muzzleloader Ramrod for quite a while. I don't do much walk and stalk in my hunts so this works pretty well for me. I also use Spin Jag's jag in .45 caliber. arrowheadrifles.com/product/aluminum_rr/

That's the great thing about this board, people sharing their experiences with other likeminded shooters.

Bill, I agree about shooters sharing their experiences. Wish we had more of that happening.

Thanks for sharing your experience with using a 3/8" aluminum ramrod tipped with a Spinjag for SML loading. It's great to hear that tighter fitting bullet/sabot loads perform better, and using a palm saver or slip-on T-handle can make the final seating easier. It sounds like a worthwhile investment for improving your SML adventure!
