It has taken some years to reach this level of knowledge of shooting my 50-SML with sabots. It’s been an interesting adventure to say the least. Also, the challenging fun of building my own accessories. But here I have to interject with mention that most of the knowledge I have obtained and adopted originated from this Board. In the past there was a flurry of posting activity with experience and info shared. But those are now bygone days. I don’t consider myself as an expert but experienced from knowledge obtained that other’s provided.
As mentioned earlier I have finished all my upgrades to my 10ML-II which leaves me working with loads. Now some may find this boring as they are only interested in load particulars they can utilize. Nothing wrong with that but for me I believe more can be learned. After examining my duplex sabot load, I now know why this approach won’t work. I used to believe that the surrounding shockwave would flare the sabot petals to release the bullet. What initiates the sabot release is that the flared skirt of the sabot causes drag that breaks the hold of the sabot on the bullet producing a clean release. For me the idea of a duplex sabot is now scrapped.
With future load development I believe there’s still a few surprises waiting.

Sharing your conclusion about the duplex sabot, even if it doesn't work for you, can be valuable to others who might be considering the same approach. It provides a different perspective and saves them time and effort.
