Hey guys,
I haven’t been on the board in a few years, and I need some advice on primers for my .50 Savage.
I sent my stainless/laminate to Rick Bibby (RBinAR) to be glass bedded and 3rd pillared many years ago. He did the work, and did an excellent job, by the way. He sent a target back with a load that he worked up for the gun, and I’ve stayed with it for the most part. 66 gr. Reloder 7 300 gr. SST ( I changed to 300 Barnes Original) MMP sabot ( I changed to Harvester Black Crush Rib) CCI 209M primer
I’m about out of the primers, and I haven’t had any luck finding the CCI 209M. I found some Federal 209A at a local gun shop today and purchased some of those. I think I remember that the Federal 209A are comparable to the CCI 209M. Am I correct, or did I waste some money.
Thanks for your help. Bow hunting had taken first love in my deer hunting, but age and an injury has me bringing the ML-II out of retirement.

I think you will find the 209A have a close response to the CCI209M.

For the most part I used them interchangeably without any real difference.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I remember reading this board for several months before I bought my ML-II. The information that I obtained here was a tremendous head start in my smokeless career. It’s great to see that this information is still readily available to readers that ask a question.

With my 50 ML2 using 44gr A5744 and xtps. I can Interchange any primer and not have enough difference in POI from whatever I used to zero that I worry about hunting 100 yards or less. Even clean burn muzzleloader primers work well with my set-up. I got lucky with my ML2 it groups well with about every combo I've tried.
