I have browsed multiple threads between here, hanks, MML, and the smokeless facebook pages. I know that most have moved on to the safer less finicky centerfire actions and the 700mls are outdated dinosaurs. Can someone explain why/what causes the action screw to wear? Is this due to running full tilt or over pressured loads? Have the newer style breech plugs helped eliminate it? After reading a few threads when I got my 700ml back form being converted I did and will keep the slot on the bolt properly greased. Not trying to beat a dead horse if there happen to be threads discussing this I overlook please let me know. I don't envision myself running more than 10/20 shots a year/season through this rifle unless its for load development reasons.

Action screw wear at one time was no problem. One could get replacements from several places. Keeping your bolt slot greased should keep your screw lasting for a lifetime, no more than you plan to shoot.
