Please help!!! Savage ml II barrel replacement???
I ruined my Savage ml Il smokeless powder barrel this past season, and I'm looking for a manufacturer who will build me a new one. Does anyone have any recommendations? I did send it to Savage and it's been discontinued. I have discussed this with a custom barrel company who would do it, but it's been a couple of months back and I cannot remember who it was.
(I reloaded for a follow up shot on a buck, and, in my haste, forgot to remove the ramrod. Pretty dumb, I know. There's now a bulge in the barrel.)
Thanks in advance!

Someone on this board may have a .50 take off they would sell. Luke may sell them of Arrowhead and PacNor and I think McGreggor sell them. Unsure if that is the correct name on the latter.

Are you thinking of Mcgowen? I had them put a barrel and breech plug on a 700 ML last year so I'm fairly certain they would do a 10 ML. If a DYI job as you mentioned Luke, Pac Nor, or Hankins may be options. Changing to a 45 may open more options too. Hopefully all that was damaged was pride and a barrel.

Depending, you might want to consider a 45 or even a 40. Not many who went to a 40 ever go back a 45 or 50. And not many who go to a 45 go back to a 50.
However, so many original 10ML2s were converted to 45s, that surely a # of take-offs should be available.

That is terrible. Glad you are ok. Did you Daniel Boone that buck with your ramrod, we want to know. Check your messages.

I think I have a 50 call 10ml II stainless. It was a take off. Do you need large or small shank.
Frankly though I would give Luke at Arrowhead a call and order a new Brux 45 cal. He will look after you well.
My 45’s have stacked up quite a pile of deer. 8 out of 10 of our hunt gang shoot Luke’s 45 cal Brux.

I shot my target buck and it went down hard. I hit it good so I didn’t reload right away. After about 10 minutes I see him trying to get away. I panicked a little and reloaded in a hurry. I had the crosshairs right on him and fired. He didn’t move after the shot, which I thought was unusual b/c I had it right on him. I remember thinking the shot sounded really loud. So, I reload again, and noticed the bullet was difficult to get started. I look for my ramrod and thought I dropped it out of the stand. Then I realized exactly what happened. I found my ramrod about 75 yards from where I shot. At least part of it… I did end up recovering the deer, fortunately. 161” main frame 8.
I would definitely be in the market for a stainless Savage ml II .50 caliber barrel.
Thank you for all of the help!
