Yesterday, I drove through Leslie Arkansas which is where Ozark had lived. His house appeared to be being maintained and the yard was mown. No cars nor other signs of occupancy. I used to stop by (200 miles from my house) and visit with both of them. Miss those days!

Wow. Blast from the past. I miss him. Still have his range rod with witness mark, a plastic storage box I now use for .22 rimfire ammo, and a few other odds and ends. I bought his Sav ML with a boyds thumbhole stock. Killed some deer with it and sold it many years ago. The 3 x 9 Nikon scope that came with it now sits on my AR-15 in ,458 SOCOM. I changed my handle here many years ago after a falling out with Edge. My old handle was Wilmsmeyer. Ozark and I were close. I reloaded .243 ammo for him and he shot some deer with that ammo. He was a pure, awesome human being. Glad we still have a forum dedicated to that great man.

Miss those old days Brother. Daily strides of improvement and tons of good guys talking everyday. Fading into the sunset lately.

The day my copy of "Jake the Woodsman" arrived power went out on our side of town. My wife and I had swapped cars that day and she had my house keys. So without power the garage door wouldn't open. Sat on the front porch during a thunderstorm and read the whole book. Good read!

Truly miss the days of Ozark and RB. Both cost me money, though. Ozark enlightened me to the .243 and Rick did the same with .45 smokeless conversions.

Miss those old days Brother. Daily strides of improvement and tons of good guys talking everyday. Fading into the sunset lately. Yes I too miss those days and the great individuals we have lost who were real contributors to this board. Time marches on and unwanted changes occur. The day my copy of "Jake the Woodsman" arrived power went out on our side of town. My wife and I had swapped cars that day and she had my house keys. So without power the garage door wouldn't open. Sat on the front porch during a thunderstorm and read the whole book. Good read! Know what you mean about not putting the book down once you started to read it. Never personally met Ozark but through communication I knew I had found a good friend that I won’t forget.

I spent a fair amount of time with RB and a few visits with Ozark. I miss those times also. I got my 40 PN from RB before the 45s started to become popular. I may have pushed him too hard concerning the 40 and using duplex loads in the 45s. I’m afraid he got disenchanted with me in the latter years. Currently I have 2 class act Jimbob 40s and my Kevin Rayhill stocked RB40 cal. The 20+ year old, 209 fired 40/10ML2 holds its own with the 2 mega buck custom 40s.
RB, Ozark, others are missed.

I had the pleasure of meeting Ben and his wife at their home in Leslie a number of years ago while passing through...I had always been intrigued by Ben and was looking forwards to the visit..I was not disappointed! My son and I were welcomed into their home as if we were blood family! I had talked to Ben a good bit here on Dougs and had a good feeling for the type of man he was...I knew that there was a difference between the written word and speaking to someone in person and I found Ben to be everything I thought he was and then some! Although he was a simple uncomplicated country boy from the Ozarks I found him to be very intelligent with a wealth of knowledge and well versed on many subjects..one subject in particular was hunting with dogs..I think we wore his poor wife out with all of the dog talk! lol Ben was nobodys fool and would speak his mind with out sugar coating anything..lol..I found Ben to be a honest and caring and REAL down to earth person..I often find myself thinking of him and wishing I could turn back time to talk to my old friend once more...
