I have owned a .50 cal NULA SML for a number of years and enjoy shooting it. It's very accurate with 275 gr Parker BE bullets and 44 gr of 4759 powder.
I recently bought a SMI .45 cal SML barrel for an encore from another forum site. I was wondering what a good load would be for it.
thank you

I have a 45 cal SMI barrel and had good results with these saboted hunting loads in it over the years;
36 gr of VV110 and 200 SST, lightly knurled w/ blue Harvester sabot, about 2400 fps.
38 gr of newer IMR 4759 and 200 SST lightly knurled w/ blue Harvester sabot, about 2400 fps.
60 gr of H4198 and 250 SST, and 200 SST lightly knurled w/ blue Harvester sabot, about 2600 fps.
The 195 barnes with a heavier knurl also works well with same powder charges. Hope this helps...

Huge help, thank you
I am going to hopefully shoot a .40 Cal fury bullet with blue sabot. I have a couple jugs of 4759 left. I will start there

I tried the Fury 225 gr in other 45's and it didn't produce as good of groups as the SST or Barnes, I didn't try it in the SMI though.

Can someone give me a bullet to use sabot less?
I’ve never shot that way before

Just reporting on the .40 Fury bullets since they were mentioned above. I took two deer this year with the Fury in 230 gr .401 caliber bonded. Used the Harvester light blue sabot. A fast load in my .45 Ruger No. 1 SML. One deer was an old buck, the other a small button buck. Killed both deer but the bullet acted like a varmint round. Exit holes about 3 inches on the adult buck and about 5 inches on the yearling. In the rib area so no real loss of meat but I would like less explosiveness. Accurate bullets however and I am unsure if they are currently made in that weight now.

I have 2 .45 SML’s. Bolt gun and encore. I love my encore due to weight and easier to stand hunt with. 275gr BE with 60grs h4198. 2525fps. It’s sighted 2” high at 100yds and is 3” low at 200yds. Both guns are tack drivers the encore is lighter for more of the hunting a like to do. This year killed 2 does standing next to each other 75yds. One DRT and the second crawled 15 yds.
But the encore also tack drives 250 and 275 star fury’s. And the 250,275 and 300 BE. Same load. All points of impact I could use on deer up to 150yds shots. That’s how close they shoot at point of impact.
But I have settled on the 275’s good middle of the road weight to speed.
Hope this helps
