Hello, new to this forum, i have a rem700CF action/28"stainless prefit with nut, .50 cal, have been working kinks out it, using LMRP with 44.5g of 5744/300 xtp red crush ribs and 60.0 H4198/300 sst red crush ribs, 5744 was going 2000fps,, 4198 was running around 2250, ok accuracy but hated the length, today i had it cut down to 24" and recrowned. Since barrel is 1.06" for 3" in front of lug i dont want to push it to max pressure, what are you guys using for max loads? btw 5744 is very manageable recoil but the 4198 really bucks up off the bags.
Also since i keep seeing loads using VV110 and 120, has anybody tried H110 to duplicate a 500sw load? I have several lbs of that? thanks. I have some .502 fury startips which seem to fit well that i will try next.

H110 is a ball powder and not recommended in most plugs.
N110 spikes more peak pressure than your 4198 load will but does it faster and it falls faster.
N120 would be a good powder for more speed. You will get more speed from 60gr of N120 than 60gr of 4198. You can easily drop down to 56gr of N120 if you wanted.
Reloder7 is also popular. 60-65gr with a 300gr bullet. A bit dirty but also a little more sabot friendly.

GMB, agree R7 is dirty, tried it a little, no VV120 to be found in my neck of the woods. so hopefully cutting this barrel down to 24" helps. I have shot 45 colt factory loads in my henry lever gun and lost 100fps over same load in a 5" blackhawk. Im not sure what so called max loads would be since this a barrel nut setup, so ive been using savage 10ml data as guide.

63gr Re7 and a 300gr is good for around 2200-2250fps and plenty safe. Makes less peak than 60gr of N120. Those fps numbers are for a OEM MLII 24" barrel. IMO N110 is better suited to 250gr bullets. It can be really rough on sabots.

Ok, so today after cutting barrel down to 24", i shot 2 loads of 44.5 5744/240xtp/red crush rib to foul bore and get scope on paper again. NO chrono, last session a sabot decided to take out my screen. 1st shot after some scope adjust. 63g Re7/240xtp, 1/2" left of center, shot 2 hit .600 higher than shot 1, loaded shot 3 very hard to seat,Re7 is dirty, it hit 2" higher than 1&2, dry patched barrel, load shot 4 , still hard to seat, it hit 2" high and 3" right?? those first 2 shots got my hopes up hitting so close, but Re7 is dirty!! Switched to H4198 loads. 60.0/250FTX/red crush ribs, shot 1 landed 1" low/1/4" right. Shot 2 landed 1-1/4" high/1/2" left, shot 3 and 4 basically same hole,@1/4" low, Ok so i was thinking the barrel is cleaning up, shot #5, 2" low/1/2" left. Not sure about that one, all the powder I measured out so I was done for the day. I noticed the 4198 kept "losing" a few kernels thru the ventliner. That powder is .025 dia. and the ventliner is .035, I like how clean and fast it is but this is aggrevating. 5744 seems to be the least problematic but i only have 1 pound im working out of. Powder is hard to find around here, Any other powder that is course like 5744? Not dirty like Re7?

If you have any 4759, it is bulky and works well, but it has not been made for a few years
