Hello everybody, been awhile since I have been around. So I recently acquired a new in the box unfired Remington 700 ML SS 50 cal with all the accessories and papers. I was wondering if there was still any interest in converting these to smokeless? If so what is the best way to proceed. I know back in the day a lot of these got converted to smokeless. I am not sure if I am going to keep it or convert it or what at this time, just trying to decide what to do. Thank you for your help. Rifleman

These guns are currently out of vogue. Prefit barrels are no longer offered. There are still a couple builder out there using these actions. Most builders only use CF actions. I will be using my 700 MLS .45 conversion again this year.

As noted they are not the thing anymore. I have a .45 that I have hunted with for several years that I love. I will also have a .40 built on a 700 ML for next season. The action has uses, but there are better choices in my opinion.

It seems that hunter still builds bolt nose kits for 700ml conversion. I do not know if PacNor post fire has begun runs for .45 barrels or not. It's a little doubtful that they will. Then there is elkman1310 who still builds both 700ml and 10MLII conversions. He would have all the information you would need, but rarely posts on this forum anymore. Here is a very recent thread about a couple 700ml conversions he made: hanksmessageboard.freeforums.net/thread/6101/testing-new-muzzleloaders

I worked with Carl to resolve my Retention Screw wear issue. I use to wear out a screws every year just getting ready for deer season. I have two seasons on the screws now with practically no wear.

No doubt Carl is a very talented guy, seems like he has these guns figured out. But I think I am just going to put this gun on the market and see what it brings. At this point in my life a plain jane Sav 10 mlII does everything I need it to do. Thanks guys for helping me figure this out. Rman
