Today I saw a hen turkey with 4 or 5 poults. They were less than the size of an adult quail if anyone remembers what they looked like. Have not seen a quail on the farm in nearly 20 years. I only bring up the poults as I would have guessed they would be much larger by 8-3-2021. I am guessing she lost her first set of eggs to a racoon and had to start over.

Been a long time since I seen poults and was surprised at how fast they could move. Was driving a back road and when my vehicle approached them they seemed to all of a sudden vanish. Not much luck trying to introduce quail here.

Almost 3 months ago in East TN, the weekend after turkey season, I saw a hen with 13+ poults. Yes,those little buggers are fast when they kick into high gear! Fortunately, we have a few quail left. Last deer season I accidently flushed a small covey at about 20 yards and a small hawk nailed one in mid-flight, it's amazing how many feathers are on a quail.
