It isnt often that you kill a 4 man limit of 80 Snow Geese but we did! And we got a bonus banded bird! 2.5 hours later we had them all breasted out! lol...it was a very cold day and we fired up the portable heater to try and keep warm in the garage...I will not soon forget this day! We have been limiting out on Canadas every day prior to this hunt as the cold weather has really started pushing the birds south..we used a dip net to gather up the dead birds and we had 3 guys in that little 14x36 Jon boat...I was getting pretty nervous and made sure no one did anything stupid to upset the boat...next year we will be in a new Gator Tail 18x54 with a GTR 40HP surface drive..

In 2 days the gloves come off! lol We can use extended magazine tubes allowing us no limits and 13 shots vs 3...if we get into them again! They are very hard to hunt...and everything has to be perfect for a massive shoot like this....fingers crossed!

I think you will need a bigger boat, lol. Not often in life does one have all the stars align on a hunt. Sometimes the flocks just need thinned out. In our area way too many Canada geese. Once they get shot at a little they smarten up and head to the protected areas. Good that your son is close enough to be able to hunt with you some.

This boat was free and we made do....while we get some money saved up..the boat we are looking at is not cheap...we are adding many options to make it a do all boat for hunting and fishing...it will be the last one that I buy.

How do they taste and how do you cook em up? I've had a few variations and recipes of canadian geese and to be honest, they seem tough and leave a bad taste in my mouth. Same for wild duck. Would love a better way to cook them that took the "flying liver" taste out of them. That's probably 80 lbs of meat there. Must have been a great hunt with the constant smell of burnt gunpowder in the air! Ummmmmm

Ummmmmm I tried snow geese for the first time with this batch....we tenderized the breast similiar to cutlets and rolled them in seasoed flour and pan fried them...I was shocked as to how well they turned out! Very tasty! With the Canadas...we have either been making a sausage or jerky out of the Canadas and it is pretty good...especially smoked.
