Have not been around in years. Many reasons, some probably valid, some probably not. Lots of family issues. Lots of health issues. But I am back, as much as I can find time to post. fyi, I just sent Ken ross a message. I have issues with my custom ML that he so skillfully put together back in ..........um..........um.....I couldn't tell you the year if I was on a witness stand! LOL Sorry, but I'm 72 now and my mind is about 393, and my memory is about 5. I have fired this beautiful weapon for years, with no issues. Even fired it 2 weeks ago at the range, and it was as accurate as mathematics. Spent a week on the stand during Arkansas ML season this last week, and tried to fire it today to unload it, and it popped a cap, that's all. Took it apart and pushed bullet and powder out, and cleaned and cleaned. Looks shiny. But it won't go back together. I can't screw the breech plug in far enough to seat the bolt!!! Nothing I do fixes it. Any ideas??? .45 cal custom on Rem 700 action, Pac-Nor barrel, etc., Boyd stock.

Ken Ross, (rossman) worked on several of my MLs. I always enjoyed him and his work. I do not think however that he has posted in nearly two years. Unsure why.

Welcome back, Buckrub!!
There is probably a granule or more of the unburned powder within the barrel where the breech plug seats. When the BP was screwed back in, the powder prevented it from seating down all the way. If you can get that area cleaned out, it should be good to go.
See P.M.

Well, I finally got ahold of Ken. I've had a pile of problems last two days. 16' trailer crapped out and my truck crapped out while taking trailer to the shop! I drove 40 miles in 3rd gear! We shall see.
I was headed to get brushes, etc., to work on it. Ken agrees, it MUST be crud in barrel threads. If that's true, that's great, cause I will get it out!!!
Thanks to all!!!!
