Good Morning All
At 50 years old I've given in to my buddies and will be purchasing my first flintlock. Me being me, I have to gather all of the information I can before making my purchase. My research brought me to this site so I thought I'd reach out to get more information. I'd love to get some feedback from you guys on a smart choices for my first flintlock. Im lucky enough to have others hunting with me that have been hunting with flintlocks for some time so I can lean on them for advice but recognize they can be a bit biased! I will primarily be using the flintlock for deer hunting, turkey hunting and just shooting for fun, so If i can purchase one firearm that will handle all of this that would be great. My budget is somewhere in the $1500-$2000 range. I'm old enough and have made enough mistakes to not go too cheap. I've learned that ends up costing more in the long run.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.

It was over 40 years ago that I got my first flintlock. I must admit if it came to having only one firearm for hunting and only hunting for fun it would be a flintlock. You are lucky to have knowledgeable peers to guide you. Best of luck in your search for a weapon and then with your hunting.

riverrat let us know how you do with the rifle and good luck! A good flintlock is really the most fun of any weapon IMHO.
