What are your opinions of the Bushnell Elite 6500? I know Dave had an issue with one a while back. Anybody else tried this scope? 2.5 x 16 x 42.
Will be shooting 66 gr. RL-7 and 300 gr. BOs.
Can it take it for the long run?

I am sure that this thread will be moved but I thought I would respond. I think Dave Daub actually had focus problems with two of these scopes in 2.5-16x42 if I am not mistaken. He and I both had bought this scope at approximately the same time and I was having problems with the parallax settings on the scope. The problems that I was having was operator error it seems. Eventually I sent the scope back to Bushnell to exchange for an upgrade of 4.5-30x50 with Mil Dot reticle for $84 more. IMO it is an amazing scope for close or long range work sporting Elite 4200 glass with Rainguard, a 6.5x erector, 4" eye relief and a 30mm tube with 80 MOA of adjustment. Although the side parallax turret is supposed to adjust for parallax it also serves as a focus knob only after the reticle has been brought into clear focus by turning of the ocular bell and leaving it there. The windage and elevation knobs are resettable to zero and are dependable. Overall I think that the 2.5-16 version is much more versatile for most anything that a muzzleloader would need but since I have chosen a varmit type of weapon I went with the higher magnification. However anything over 22x seems to lose some resolution and I only use these magnification levels as a spotting scope. Other than that the scope brings in a very crisp and clear sight picture especially performing in dim light. Here is another picture of mine with the sun shade attached. Maybe it isn't a Nightforce or even an IOR Valdada but for the money it seems to be a very versatile and dependable scope. Click on the link below for a very fair and informed evaluation of the scope. opticstalk.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=15017&KW=bushnell+6500&PID=166868#166868Oh......forgot to mention that the reticle shines a bronze color when pointing in direct sunlight. That can get pretty irritating.

Thanks Doug for a great reply and the link. I started off with a 3200, then moved up to a 4200, and was looking at upgrading again.
