My brother and I were born in w.va,up in Cabin Creek in towns called Eskdale and Ohley.Coal mine country.I was 14 and he was 8 years old when our dad moved here to Indiana.I am 68 now and a usmc veteran on disability and he is 65 and had to take early disability after being on the job for 44 years. He came up with the idea he would like to hunt black bear in w.va.Not being back there since 1973,we have no idea where we would like to go.If anyone in these two states have any information on as where to go,and places to possibly stay, any and all information can be sent to me on doug's forum under brownisdown672.@gmail.com.Please send it pm.All info will be greatly appreciated.Thank you.

I have flown out of Charleston WV many times and that is some beautiful country you have there. Thank you for your service and best of luck if you get a hunt setup. Hunting black bear is on my to-do list.

All the members on this forum and no one lives or hunts bear in these states?I am not asking for a place to live or take us hunting, just some general locations and information.Guess I might have to call the w.va. dnr and see what their input might be.

See if you can contact Coastal Timber Co., I used to belong to a hunt club/lease of land owned by them in Wetzel Co. Birchfield area Haymond Run. I have never bear hunted but have seen them while deer hunting. Lots of sign all over the area. Hope this helps and you find a place. BTW I only paid $70 a year for the membership on the lease and only 28 in the club, 1300+ acres, hardwoods, and very few hunt it at the same time. You know what the terrain is like. Maybe you can get in with one of the clubs.
