Wednesday through Sunday of memorial week. I went out to Utah for the long range shooters of Utah's International Milk Jug challenge.
Really the competitions against your self and of course a little bit of bragging rights. 25 guys in the shoot The international comes in no one from Utah can shoot in this event so I met a lot of great guys from California, Nevada, Texas, Colorado, Nebraska myself from Michigan and one guy from Australia.
So the event is set up first attempt in the Second attempt if you don't connect your first try 10 shots each of Time trying to hit the milk jug out of 1000, 1200, 1500 and 1mile. I'm shooting my 308 225 free bore 200 grain Berger 2700fps
The wind was absolutely crazy we were on the flats elevation 6500 shooting up into a mountain ridge over Valley's or draws whatever you call them.
Friday morning I shot the 1500 yards of course be an all new to this I had my AB Kestrel yardage at 1760yard so my first four shots went over the top and they were no calls or we figured 5 mils too much elevation Ended up making contact on my seventh shot.
So the next distance was 1200 yards time everybody got through the 1500 and the 1200 I shot mine right at dark I felt really rushed because darkness was approaching fast and there is one more shoot here after myself I ended up hitting it on my second try second shot so it took me 12 shots total.

Saturday morning we shot the 1 mile and 1000.
my turn up on the 1 mile was mid day Alot of Mirage and wind. when they hang the milk jugs they put up on the steel plate in the shape of Utah for souvenir then after you get your plate back you sprayed their logo on it. Long story short I miss the milk jug But hit the backer. My 308 from 100 yards to 1 mile my bullet goes up 1664 inches or like around 138 feet near pretty freaking amazing windage was anywhere from 3 to 6 Mils at a mile. On Saturday afternoon we shot the 1000 and I hit it in 3 shots.
Next year I'm going back I'm taking my 416 swinglock and trying to decide big bore rifle I'm going to build hopefully the timings right they have another shoot out there that they were shooting out the 4200 yards sounds like a 375 lethal magnum is in order.
Here's a few pictures
From the shooting bench the big square in the pictures 1500 m
My Backer was placed up against ar500 steel so the bullet did not go all the way through pretty cool
Switching planes I caught the guys loading my gun case I weighed 70 pounds two rifles they were probably cussing me out the whole time
If you get on YouTube and search long-range shooter of Utah you can check it out.
