Friend of mine has one and uses it mostly for hunting,no high volume shooting. How long these plugs last as far as flame channel is concerned? I imagine there is no ventliner like in Savage, but pressures are incomparible. Correct me if I'm wrong. What do you guys do in terms of maintenance? Any suggestions be appreciated. olegburn

I have two of them fine guns... One is the short 24" version and the other is a Mag 26" version.
I can tell you how many shots have been through those two guns but i have yet to replace a nipple. There is one thing i should mention though - i am using the Cabelas/Canadian 209 conversion in both guns - it is so much better than the Remington attempt. If you guys are the Remington conversion i would relly suggest getting the canadian version.
Also remember the remington breech plug is a two piece assembly - Nipple and breech plug.
If your friend is using a #11 or Musket cap it is just a regular 1/4"x28 thread nipple and they do wear out - but are easily replaced.
Hope this helps some - got any other question just fire away...
